CYFD Title IV-E Stipend Program
Provides money for college and training opportunities to work in child welfare

Program Description

 

The Title IV-E stipend program provides grants for students intending on becoming employed within child welfare in the state of New Mexico.

Title IV-E stipends are paid as follows:

  • $7,000 per semester for BSW
  • $8,000 per semester for MSW students

**students are allowed a total of 4 semesters of Title IV-E total in their college career**

In exchange for the stipend, upon graduation, students are expected to complete 9 months of employment with CYFD for each semester of stipend received. Students are guaranteed paid employment with the New Mexico Children, Youth, and Families Department upon graduation.

Program Requirements

In order to be eligible for the Title IV-E Stipend Program, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be willing live in and to relocate within New Mexico
  • Be a declared social work major
  • Be accepted to the WNMU School of Social Work at the time of interview
  • Be a junior or senior in good academic standing OR an MSW student in good academic standing
  • Be willing to take a course in Child Welfare
  • Agree to complete your internship at CYFD
  • Agree to employment conditions upon graduation
  • Agree to become licensed within 6 months of graduation
  • Own a personal vehicle by the date of hire.
  • Pass a background check once during the interview phase and again at the time of graduation
